MAKE A ZINE/ DANCE COMMANDER
I made a zine with my Electronic Pre-press class under the art direction of Mike Perry. The theme of the zine was fun projects that you could do using creativity. My partner and mines spread was called "Make Up a Dance." From the photos that I took for this project, I developed a poster for a local music project, "Dance Commander."
TAKE A RIDE
This is a double sided and folding poster for The Minnesota State Fair Midway and Kidway. It takes inspiration from the colors, sights, and sometimes overwhelming sounds of the experience.
SOUND/UNSEEN
This series is the first time I completed design projects outside of school. While they are simple, and I have grown a lot as a designer in the past few years, I hold this series near and dear as it is the first time my work was hung around the city of Minneapolis, and I feel that this it the first time that design "clicked" for me.
SEA MONKEYS RE-DESIGN
When redesigning the packaging for Sea Monkeys, I chose to focus on the fact that they are indeed brine shrimp and not fanciful cartoon characters as depicted on the original packaging. I also integrated text from the original Sea Monkey ads such as "So eager to please, they obey your commands like a school of tiny Dolphins!"
RED STAG SUPPERCULB
These are a few of the pieces for my Senior Project. Among other things I developed buttons and coasters for the Red Stag Supper Club. The Red Stag is the first LEED Certified restaurant in Minnesota and is very eco friendly. The vectors are of current endangered animals in Minnesota.
MUGSHOT
This project was based on a vintage font that I made into my own. I named the font "Mugshot" and meshed Bill Gates' mugshot photo with the font.
MALACHI
This poster represents the life of artist Malachi Ritscher, who committed suicide on the side of a Chicago freeway in 2006. Malachi was a musician, painter, graphic designer, and protester who was known by many in the Chicago art scene. As the war in Iraq began, Malachi began to feel more and more bleak about the future of the world. He began spending most of his time protesting, and in turn, more time being censored by the media. This poster shows the phases of Malachi's life and how they correlate with this censorship.
CIRCLE IN ON HYGIENE
This poster shows the steps that I went through to disect a photo using Photoshop tools. I created a new image based on the color values in each square centimeter of the orginal image.
